public enum PubSubSecurityProtocol
extends Enum<PubSubSecurityProtocol>

This enum is equivalent to Kafka's SecurityProtocol enum. We need this abstraction because Kafka's enum is present in two different namespaces, which are different between LinkedIn's fork and the Apache fork.
